Meet Dr John Ward, Immediate Past Honorary Treasurer

Dr John Ward is a consultant anaesthetist at University Hospitals Dorset. He is the Immediate Past Honorary Treasurer at the Association of Anaesthetists. His clinical interests are day surgery, orthopaedics and vascular.

Why did you stand for election to board?

To be effective in improving clinical standards; I have been a clinical director and medical director for the preceding 6 years at my Trust.

Why did you decide to become an anaesthetist / doctor?

I was informed I had the ability!

What do you like the most about your job?

Combination of metal stimulation, practice skills and “every day being a school day” – I never stop picking up new things / info.

Who or what inspires you to do your best work?

A mantra I have always had = treat patients the way you would wish to be treated.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Taken up Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing in the last year. I cycle – road, mountain and commute! Love stand-up comedy.
