Here at the Association of Anaesthetists we believe
anaesthesia is the most exciting, versatile and dynamic
specialty in medicine, and we are so glad you have chosen it
as your career. Anaesthetic training has changed enormously
since the first edition of this guide was published in 2009. We
have revised, updated and repurposed this online version to
steer you through the first three years of Stage 1 (previously
‘core’) training. Written by a team of anaesthetists at different
career stages, we hope this will be a useful perspective on
how to get the most out of your first few years in anaesthesia.
