Association of Anaesthetists statement on diversity and equality
The Association of Anaesthetists recognises that current world events have focused attention sharply on inequality of treatment for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people.
The Association condemns systemic, institutional or individual discrimination against any groups. We recognise that discrimination against individuals and groups in society persists and remains to be addressed.
The Association stands for diversity, equality and inclusion and we aim to eliminate discrimination in all aspects of our own work. The Association’s position is clearly enshrined in our Diversity and Equality Policy and in our Long Term Strategy.
Through our equality and diversity lead, we are committed to promoting inclusion in all aspects of our work, and we recognise that this is a continual process, ensuring that inwardly and outwardly we truly represent the anaesthetists and patients we serve. We believe in championing and ensuring diversity in our own organisation and throughout health care.
We will continue to promote equality and diversity and will continue to stand firmly against all forms of discrimination and inequality.
